About the Artist:

Trumpeter and composer Ted Chubb has spent much of his career creating spaces where jazz can be heard up close. A longtime New York–area bandleader, educator whose playing reflects the lyrical lineage of Booker Little, Art Farmer, and Kenny Dorham, he and his wife reopened a historic Jersey City building, the Statuary — an intimate performance space where audiences sit just feet from the band. Live at The Statuary captures that atmosphere over four nights with longtime collaborators Bruce Williams, Oscar Perez, Tom DiCarlo, and Jerome Jennings.

Bound by decades of shared history, the quintet moves with ease through a program shaped by Chubb’s years living abroad, family ties, and reflections on displacement and compassion, alongside searching interpretations of John Lewis’s “Django” and Harold Arlen’s “Out of This World.” Rooted in place and trust, the recording introduces The Statuary beyond its walls — music shaped by decades of relationships and delivered with clarity, conviction, and an unshakeable sense of community.
